Restraining order issued against racists by the court

In relation to protests targeting specific foreigners in Kawaguchi City, Saitama, our association filed a legal request for a temporary restraining order to prohibit demonstrations within 600 meters of its office. The Saitama District Court approved this request on November 21.

Between February and October 2024, this individual protested eight times near the Japanese Kurdish Cultural Association office, carrying banners and flags containing defamatory remarks about the association, and used a megaphone to shout discriminatory slogans such as “Kurds should leave Japan.”

The court acknowledged that these actions were defamatory, damaging the association’s reputation, and incited exclusion of Kurds through hate speech. Furthermore, the court noted that such actions posed a risk of violating personal rights.
